Oakdale Immigration Court
The Oakdale Immigration Court falls under the umbrella of the Office of the Chief Immigration Judge. The Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) are part of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) rather than the Executive Office for Immigration Review (EOIR). The Office of the Chief Immigration Judge; however, is part of the EOIR and is under the jurisdiction of the Department of Justice. Several of the local detention centers funnel their detainees through the Oakdale Immigration Court.
Immigrants and asylum seekers facing the Oakdale Immigration Court are likely going to be disappointed. Many detention centers and federal prisons send inmates to judges who see the process as a loophole that allows possible criminals taking advantage of the system. At least one of the judges is known to have denied every one of the 200 cases she presided over.
With odds like this, having a sympathetic and knowledgeable legal representative like those from Manji Law is more than a luxury; it is a necessity.
